GARMENTS, NO GARBAGE - This is the Post Waste Era

Worn out clothes and textiles get a new lease of life: post-consumer textile waste is used for the new Post Waste collection by Pure Waste.
Every person on the planet throws 14 kilograms of textiles into waste every year. From 2025 onwards, an EU regulation bans throwing post-consumer textiles into waste.
The clothes we wear can no longer be wasted. They must be worn out, collected and recycled. In six years, we must treat used clothes as raw material, not as garbage.

THE PURE WASTE PHILOSOPHY

At Pure Waste, know that everything they do has an impact on something, somewhere. They know that sustainability and quality go together. They believe that fashion and ecological thinking should go together too.

Pure Waste Textiles (Finland) produces ecologically sustainable and premium quality recycled fabrics and yarns. They take offcuts and spinning waste from factories in India and mechanically recycle them into yarns. Their products are entirely made of recycled textile waste, sometimes combined with recycled polyester or viscose and offers the consumer the same quality and comfort as those made out of virgin materials.

THEIR STORY

The roots of their company come from the Nordic tradition of recycling, and the clean and pure environment of their native Finland. They first began experimenting with industrial leftover materials with our first-born Costo – a company that specialises in sustainable textile accessories. They were committed to make only ecological and otherwise ethical choices, and without compromises. So when they couldn’t find a fabric that was 100 % recycled, they decided to develop it ourselves.

THEIR VISION

“Pure Waste” is their promise to use only materials that would otherwise go to waste. They also wish to challenge the whole perception of waste. Pure Waste is recycling upgraded. Their vision is to recreate the fashion industry, and lead it into a future of sustainability. They want to industrialise textile upcycling globally as a common practice.

THEIR LOGO

The scarab beetle in the Pure Waste logo symbolises their values. In ancient Egypt these natural recyclers represented rebirth and renewal.

COMPANY OBJECTIVES 2019/2020

Pure Waste Textiles (Finland) produces ecologically sustainable and premium quality recycled fabrics and yarns. They take offcuts and spinning waste from factories in India and mechanically recycle them into yarns. Their products are entirely made of recycled textile waste, sometimes combined with recycled polyester or viscose and offers the consumer the same quality and comfort as those made out of virgin materials.

Goal 12 wants to make us think twice about the things we use, the waste we create, and how that impacts the planet. Changing our behaviour towards more sustainable actions such as recycling really makes a difference when everyone -that includes individuals, companies, government - contributes.
