Located in Lampang Province in Thailand, Fang Thai Factory Ltd was founded by Jaruwan Khammuang as a social enterprise to bring an additional source of income to the local farmers by using their agricultural waste as a resource in the production of packaging.

Rice straw is a by-product of farming rice crop, the waste straw previously was burnt for disposal causing harmful local air pollution and releasing greenhouse gas emissions. Fang Thai uses clean technology to convert the rice straw into paper for various end uses such as swing tags and secondary packaging. The rice straw paper is biodegradable and has a non-chemical coating made from rice starch that makes the paper packaging water, oil and grease resistant.
