Coconut Waste - Alternative Timber for export pallets

It important that we not only look at our fashion & textile raw materials, but also each element of our supply chain, from store fit out, packaging, coat hangers through to how we actually transport our raw materials from supplier to factory and from factory to distribution centres.

The team at Cocopallet have created a alternative and sustainable solution for wooden shipping pallets that are fully biodegradable at the end of their cycle.

By taking advantage of the 74 billion coconuts harvested every year the team are taking the unused husks and forming them into durable, water resistant, pest-repellent and cost effective pallets that contain no synthetic binding agents, instead taking advantage of the coconuts natural binders in the coconut fibres. The other great advantage of using these fibres is that no nails or metal staples are needed for additional strength - meaning that the pallets are fully biodegradable at the end of their useful life.
